I took another quick trip to Idyllwild May 14th – 16th (Friday – Sunday) for a mini camping weekend getaway with my boyfriend Trevor, our dog Koa and 2 of our good friends. The weather ranged from the high 60’s to low 40’s over the 3 days we were there. Saturday was very nice, warm, and sunny while Sunday ended up being pretty cold and windy.

We did not have a reservation but ended up finding one at the campground closest to town: Idyllwild Park Campground. The sign above is what was at the kiosk before you drove into the park which let you know which spots were already reserved and which ones were still open. It was $30/night which you put into an envelope that included your name, phone number, site number, license plate number, and number of nights.

On Saturday we did the hike to Suicide Rock via Deer Springs Trail. It ended up being about 7.5 miles total and it was pretty warm and sunny during the whole hike!

On our way home on Sunday we went back to Hurkey Creek Park so we could hike to the same small waterfall spot we did last time.
(You can see the photos from that trip HERE.)

The day use fees were the same: $6 per adult and $2 per dog. The temperatures this time were pretty cold and windy but it was still an easy and enjoyable hike!

Be sure to keep an eye out for the rock arrow which takes you down to the mini falls area!

Always watch out for snakes! We ended up running into one right in the middle of the path!
